Annie Canada Bio
Annie Handley is a singer-songwriter living
on Vancouver Island, part of Canadas beautiful Pacific West Coast. She
grew up on the Island and first started writing songs and Playing the guitar
at age nine. Annie played on and off throughout school, at lunch, after class,
at home, and eventually at the university. Friends would often ask her to
play them their favorite song: I guess I never really thought about
anything coming to fruition though.
A three year jaunt playing with the local rock band Push gave
her a grounding in live performance and recording. She grew to realize the
importance of focusing on her own material. Her songs are soulful, yet playful,
and are tempered by the west coast atmosphere that surrounds her. Folk overtones
cross over into popular music and are enhanced by the energy and edge from
rock and groove. The unique compositions are highlighted by a rich voice sometimes
described as both strong and sultry. Currently she is recording her first
CD with a Vancouver Island Music Producer.
